Bald Head Island Golf Course
This George Cobb-designed gem is accessible only by boat or ferry and features 18 of the most breathtaking holes in all of golf. Located just south of Wilmington in Brunswick County, Bald Head Island is the perfect place for those looking to truly get away.
Belvedere Plantation
Belvedere is a traditional course designed in harmony with its natural surroundings. Golfers can attempt to tame this 18-hole, par 72 course's small greens and numerous water hazards with the help of Belvedere's state-of-the-art, GPS-equipped golf carts, included with the relatively low green fees. There are also tennis courts and a restaurant on the premises, so that everyone, golfer or not, has something to do.
Magnolia Greens Golf Plantation
On the way to Myrtle Beach, Magnolia Greens provides golfers with the amenities they expect from a world class golf club, including, a pro shop, a bar and grill, and a practice facility. Designed by Tom Jackson, the 27-hole course was also home to the 1998 and 1999 PGA Qualifying Tournaments.
Porters Neck Plantation and Country Club
Located just north of Wilmington and situated alongside the Intracoastal Waterway, Porters Neck is Southern living, and golfing, at its finest. The full-service pro shop and the 18-hole, Tom Fazio-designed course are sure to keep the golfers happy, while the tennis courts, swimming pool, and many annual events host by the club are sure to please everyone else.

If you need to hone your skills before tackling Wilmington's world-class golf courses, try your hand at Inland Greens, a public, 18-hole, par-three course. Alternatively, you can practice your long game at one of Wilmington's several driving ranges or go the high-tech route and try out the virtual driving ranges featured at several of the local pro shops.

Feel like heading to the beach? Wilmington is close to a number of North Carolina's most scenic beach getaways. Whether you enjoy fishing, surfing, or sunbathing, the numerous beaches located in New Hanover and Brunswick County will surely be able to satisfy any beachgoer's needs, and all are just moments from each other. A five-minute drive away from Wilmington proper, Wrightsville Beach is one of North Carolina's most popular beach communities. Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and the historic Fort Fisher, three more popular North Carolina beach destinations, are just 20 minutes away. South of Wilmington, Brunswick County is home to many more beautiful North Carolina beaches and waterfront communities, including the picturesque Southport and the untouched Bald Head Island, less than an hour from Wilmington.
